The Office of the National Security Council and Classified Information Protection started its activities on 16 November 2009 under the name of the Office of the National Security Council after the passage of the Decree establishing the Office of the National Security Council (Official Gazette RS, No. 12/09). Upon the entry into force of the Law on Classified Information (Official Gazette RS, No. 104/09), whose implementation began on 1 January 2010, the Office of the National Security Council was assigned its current name the Office of the National Security Council and Classified Information Protection (the Council Office).
