Scope of activities
The Office of the National Security Council and Classified Information Protection was established as a service of the Serbian Government with a legal person capacity.
The Office has the following scope of activities:
- Support to the work of the National Security Council and the Bureau for the Security Services’ Work Coordination (the Coordination Bureau) on the basis of the Law on the bases regulating security services in the Republic of Serbia, Rules of Procedure for conducting the National Security Council’s activities and the Decree on the establishment of the Office of the National Security Council and Classified Information Protection;
- Expert supervision of the Classified Information Law implementation;
- Monitoring the situation and ensuring the implementation of standards and regulations in the field of classified information protection;
- Ensuring the fulfillment of international commitments and implementation of international agreements concluded between the Republic of Serbia and other countries, international bodies and organizations in the field of classified information protection, and cooperation with counterpart authorities of foreign countries and international organizations;
- Keeping the Central Registry’s records of exchanged classified information and documents between the Republic of Serbia and foreign countries and international organizations;
- Keeping records of granted and denied personnel and facility security clearances;
- Organizing trainings for classified information users in line with national and international standards and regulations;
- Revoking security classifications of information in accordance with the provisions of the Classified Information Law;
- Performing duties and activities relating to the protection of classified information upon the termination of activities of the public authority without legal successor;
- Cooperating with other public authorities in the implementation of the Classified Information Law, and discharging other functions as envisaged by the above law and regulations based on that law.
